When multiple language Gutenprint drivers are installed, they can not be differentiated by indices

Bug Description

While installing a printer via cupsys shows all details for the drivers to be chosen from, this is not true for gnome-cups-manager.
In System/Systemverwaltung/Drucker/Eigenschaften under the tab Treiber you can chose a model and in a drop down list named Treiber: you can chose from various drivers. For multiple languages they are all called "Standard" without any indication of what differentiates them.

Example Dapper/Gutenrint/iP4000/multilanguage.

Hello Matthias,

this will only happen, when CUPS is compiled from source and multiple language drivers ( 1 per language selected per printer included ) are generated. They all show up as "standard" through the gnome-cups-manager, while CUPS via localhost:631 shows them with language indices.

Apart from that, Dapper offers me only the EN version, although I have set the language to DE right from the start.

The printer I experience this with is a Canon PIXMA iP4000

Hello Matthias,

we have stopped the Ubuntu Evaluation over here. You may download the package from here http://superb-east.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/gimp-print/gutenprint-5.0.0-rc2.tar.bz2, complie and install.

As far as I recall they are all inserted under /usr/share/cups/model and correctly named. The full set is useable when adressed with the CUPS through localhost:631, only the gnome-cups-manager can't handle.

A language code field has been added for Gutenprint drivers in gnome-cups-manager 0.31-1.1ubuntu9.
Gutenprint drivers now show up as: "High Quality Image (Gutenprint) (%s)", were %s is the language code.

gnome-cups-manager (0.31-1.1ubuntu9) dapper; urgency=low

If I'm not mistaking Debian and Ubuntu package cypsys-driver-gutenprint only has english PPDs.

Hello,

Problem also arises when using the splix binary driver from OpenPrinting: the language tags are displayed in the cups web interface but not in gnome-cups-manager.

Cf bug #59829

Best regards,

@Antoine

Since this bug is closed it is better to report the similar splix issue as a new bug. This will avoid confusion and lets people keep track of the status of the splix issue independently.
