Failed kernel bootload

Ok. I think I have the same problem here:

First, I am trying to run Dapper on an ASUS A6000KT notebook. Relevant specs are here: http://au.asus.com/products4.aspx?modelmenu=2&model=1035&l1=5&l2=24&l3=134

I have the same problem where if there is anything plugged into a usb port (mouse, thumb drive, external HD etc.) Ubuntu will fail to boot, freezing at the 'Unpacking/loading kernel' message. The current (as of posting) Dapper kernel has this problem.

Using the recovery mode I manually copied the boot messages directly before the freeze. These are given below:

What I believe to be the same problem has been reported for another ASUS notebook on the forums: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=211138

Workarounds include:
* unplugging all usb devices for every boot.
* adding 'acpi=off' to the boot command
* disabling USB devices in BIOS

However none of these are very satisfactory :(.

I'm marking this invalid, because the cause is a buggy BIOS in my laptop, and Japs no longer appears active.
