Bug Description

When locking the session on KDE (3.5.1 and 3.5.2 at least, didn't check before) on a Powerbook G4, I cannot unlock it anymore. When entering the password, the dialog box says "Cannot unlock".

raphink, please check permissions of /etc/shadow file. It should be like this:

-rw-r----- 1 root shadow 817 2006-03-29 22:12 /etc/shadow
                         ^^^^^

I think this might be duplicate of bug 26175 or similar.

Indeed, I have

-rw-r----- 1 root root 957 2006-03-30 22:26 /etc/shadow

instead... I'll try changing the perms for this file.

I confirm it works with this group.

If you can confirm that Users&Groups module was used from kde-guidance < 0.6.3, then it is duplicate bug 26175 (reported by many). If not, then it might be something else breaking it.
In my case, I did not use screen lock for soo long that I could hardly relate it back to use of U&G module.

This seems to be solved. Please re-open if needed.

Remember, fix is :

$ sudo chgrp shadow /etc/shadow
