Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

On a fully dist-upgraded Karmic, on Intel i915GMS with UXA and KMS enabled, I get a lot of mouse pointer flicker when I start Firefox.

I have even briefly caught some graphical garbage in the pointer image, but this is very uncommon.

Note: Compiz is disabled (Visual Effects set to 'none').

I have the same issue. Using UXA, compiz, and an Intel 945GME with the xserver-xorg-video-intel_2.7.99.1+git20090602.ec2fde7c-0ubuntu2_i386 driver from PPA

PS: is apport-collect meant to attach everything separately like that? I've never used it before :o

did you upgrade or clean install? I still have the issue after upgrading, but I'll clean install in a week or two and see how it goes.

On Karmic alpha 2, using version 2:2.7.99.1+git20090602.ec2fde7c-0ubuntu2 of the -intel driver on a Dell Latitude X1 / i915GMS with KMS enabled,

the mouse pointer flickers very noticably while it is being animated. I've even seen some corruption flashing up in the pointer image, though this is nothing permanent.

The same issue is present on Fedora 11.

I freshly installed Alpha 1 and dist-upgraded since then.

By the way, I tried booting Fedora 11 from LiveCD (which also has KMS) and the mouse flickers there as well.

Ok, so it's an upstream driver issue, nothing -buntu specific

just for the record: to get in touch with the flickering just watch the cursor right after login when gnome is coming up and when firefox is loading pages (pick a very slow website to get the full experience ;)

Can we get this patch integrated please, I don't see how this can be marked as a low priority issue, it is reminiscent of the old days of early accelerated VGA drivers in the mid 90's and disaster to look at.
