Low resolution with Geforce MX cards

Bug Description

The nv driver does not support higher resolutions than 640x480 with Nvidia's Geforce4MX graphics cards.

Ubuntu, Breezy, Dapper and Hoary all defaulted to 640x480 before I manually configured x.org.

Perhaps the default driver should be something other than nv for these cards?

I'm here to confirm this. Tested on the Flight 6 install CD. It's the integrated GeForce4 MX that's included on nForce2 IGP based motherboards. It's probably useless info, but the motherboard is a MSI K7N2GM2.

Well. I had that when reverting back to nv (from nvidia). I have a GeForce FX 5200.

$ sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg

solves it.

Confirmed

nv driver for me only gives 640x480 resolution no matter how I configure xorg. Nvidia GeForce Go 6600 on Samsung M50
