Bug Description
I noticed strange behavor with USB sticks in Dapper.
I plugged in a USB stick with some files on it. The USB stick was automatically detected, and a window popped up with the contents of the USB stick. I deleted the files located on the USB stick and then (waiting for a few secs after I deleted the files) I removed the USB stick from the USB port. I plugged it in again, the stick was again detected and I noticed that the files I deleted were still on the USB stick.
So I wonder, didn't I just delete those files?
I figured out that instead of simply unplugging the USB stick from the port, I had to choose 'Eject' first before unplugging the USB stick. 'Eject' is accessible through the right click menu on the icon of the USB stick which is located on the desktop when a USB stick is detected. When you choose 'Eject' a small progress window shows which says 'writing changes' or something. After that, you can apparantly unplug the USB stick safely.
I think there are two problems here:
1 - The 'Eject' function is hidden. How should I know that I have to use 'Eject' before unpluggin a stick? Ubuntu never told me. I always wondered why my USB stick always had problems before I figured out I had to use 'Eject'. Currently 'Eject' is accessible through the right click menu on the USb stick icon on the dekstop. How should users be able to find it there?
2 - Changes should be written to the USB stick immediatly, so that the 'Eject' function would not be necessary.
