Bug Description

I tried to re-assign bug 389225, which was initially filed agains launchpad, to launchpad-registry and got OOPS-1266EB460
OSError: [Errno 13] Permission denied: '/var/tmp/launchpad_mailqueue/tmp/1245425030.12452.gandwana.250681908'<br />
Re-assigning it to launchpad-foundations worked though

As it can be observed by OOPS-1266EB375, OOPS-1266EB451, OOPS-1266EB393 this is not specific to malone. It's a permission issue on gandwana.

Seems /var/tmp/launchpad_mailqueue on gandwana isn't owned by LP user. It was created in 2006 and is owned by 2519:warthogs, whoever that is - I think the bigger question is why is this directory being used at all - I suspect this is a recent config issue. Should be using /srv/edge.launchpad.net/edge/mail_queue/.

Permissions fixed on gandwana in any case, but if this is a config issue we need to make sure it doesn't cause problems on other servers for the 2.2.6 rollout, particularly on servers where we run multiple LP trees for different users (such as loganberry) as they could potentially conflict.

Looking at the production configs, the only config file that still uses that is gina. All others use either direct delivery or a directory under /srv.

So I don't understand where this is coming from.

This is configured through the mail-configure-normal.zcml files in the instance configuration directory.

How was that server started?

Using the normal initscripts which do:

make build LPCONFIG=${LPCONFIG}
make initscript-start LPCONFIG=${LPCONFIG} http_proxy=http://squid.internal:3128

Are you sure the /var/tmp locations aren't used in development environments and maybe aren't being correctly overridden?
