Bug Description

I had a problem with...Firefox 3.5 not opening the installation file. I had to install Firefox 3.01 in order to solve. Same problem with Lillo and Epipahny.

The error when I click the install button:

Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (apt) isn't associated with any program.

Ubufox and apturl are already installed. Maybe they need a new link to the new version of Firefox.

+ had to install Firefox 3.01 in order to solve. Same problem with Dillo

Rodney,

Could this be a bug in apturl or ubufox? Since we're just calling xdg-open we don't really have any control over WHAT is selected as the default browser.

This was probably only an issue during migration from 3.0 to 3.5 in Karmic (and moving epiphany to webkit). The apturl package does install a gconf key to add an apt url handler, which both Firefox and Epiphany should support. The [Install] feature on the web site, also explicitly states it is for Jaunty, and not Karmic. We're installed in Karmic+ by default (on regular Ubuntu), though clicking [Install] (without installing the PPA package by clicking on [Add PPA]) should install the packages on Karmic if not already installed (this can be tested by removing python-ubuntuone-storageprotocol, and then clicking [Install]).
