Bug Description

Installing the desktop version of Ubuntu 9.04 64-bit (iso downloaded 2009-07-11). I noticed that the suggested keyboard layout in Step 3, USA, is not a very bright one. Cause in step two I selected Europe / Oslo as timezone. Based on that, wouldn't a much more reasonable suggestion for keyboard layout be Norway?

Of course not a very big deal, but I believe small things like this matter. It would give me the impression that Ubuntu knows me. While now I instead get the impression that Ubuntu is slow and dumb, since I kind of have to tell it twice where I live.

Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to a question in the support tracker. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but it would make more sense to raise problems you are having in the support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if you are uncertain if they are bugs. It was not a problem I had. It was something Ubuntu did poorly, so I thought I would report the issue so that Ubuntu could do it better.

This is indeed the correct place for a suggestion. It should be marked as Wishlist.

1.) bug #389610 appears to be a duplicate

2.) "mee to"
During installation ( http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/karmic/alpha-2/karmic-desktop-i386.iso ) on the "Where are you?" screen I selected Europ/Ljubljana (that is in Slovenia). On the next screen , the suggested option was "USA"

I mean, what other data besides the location choice in step 3 has it to decide on what to suggest ? Does that option always suggest "USA" ?

Karmic alpha 3

Jamal: This is a bug as making a suggestion that is incorrect needs fixing.

I was given the suggestion of USA Dvorak for a UK region with the Dvorak layout. If it included the region in its equation, the suggestion would have been accurate.

This only appears to happen if I select a keyboard map from the Live CD boot screen. If I don't select any, then the suggested keyboard layout is United Kingdom which does match the region I chose.
