Bug Description

While trying to play http://www.amazon.de/exec/obidos/clipserve/B00005JRNP001001/028-1729729-3790916
(.rm supported with gstreamer0.10-pitfdll), totem aborts with:
"Internal GStreamer error: negotiation problem. Please file a bug at http://bugzilla.gnome.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=GStreamer"
Before filing the bug there I just want to be sure it is not triggered by my setup.
totem-xine plays the file just fine.

Yep, same here (18/04/2006) using your stream above.

I get that same error with that link (on Ubuntu Dapper), but at other times I just don't seem to have a suitable codec.

For instance, this link
http://mfile.akamai.com/12800/rm/mitworld.download.akamai.com/12800/mitw-sloan-dils-brown-ideo-16mar2006-56k.ram
gives me a "You do not have a decoder installed to handle this file. You might need to install the necessary plugins." error dialog.

But I'm pretty sure I have all the available plugins (in Ubuntu Dapper) installed.

It's not fixed upstream. Only the cryptic error is gone, playback of rm streams still doesn't work... or did I miss something?

if it's not fixed upstream you should reopen the upstream bug or point to the correct one

Presumably the protocol error is fixed so gstreamer could play realmedia files now... That is, if there was any sort of gstreamer plugin that played most realmedia content.
