Update of Dapper produces empty initrd file

Bug Description

I'm running Dapper on my Dell Inspiron 1100. This has happened a few times. When I do a full upgrade (with adept), somehow my initrd.img files are wiped clean. This first happened when I to 2.6.15-20-386. It produced empty initrd.img-2.6.15-19-386 and initrd.img-2.6.15-20-386 files. I could still boot with the original 2.6.15-18-386 file, until I did another full upgrade (with adept), this file was reduced to a size of zero. My workaround is now a img file made with mkinitramfs which I keep copying into the /boot directory.

Hi Steve,

Do you still have this issue with the latest Edgy beta, or even an up-to-date Dapper? Please let us know. Thanks in advance.

Hi

Yes, I'm still having this problem. I am running off of one of the later
pre-releases, but have all the packages updated. The last kernel update
(to 2.6.15-27) resulted in my initrd.img---- file to be of zero size.

I have to create a new image using mkinitramfs each time.

Hope this helps,
Steve

Does this only happen when installing with adept, or also with apt-get/aptitude/synaptic?

I've only tried with adept, not the other methods you mentioned.
