Bug Description

Package failed to upgrade.

By mistake I ignored the section

"Network Upgrade for Ubuntu Servers (Recommended)

   1. Install update-manager-core if it is not already installed:

      sudo apt-get install update-manager-core

   2. Edit /etc/update-manager/release-upgrades and set:

      Prompt=normal

   3. Launch the upgrade tool:

      sudo do-release-upgrade"

and used the Upgrade Manager instead.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.

Could you outline which steps you've taken to perform the upgrade? Did you try first with update-manager then wit do-release-upgrade?

  Hello Mr. Gug

  Thanks for your reply. I did not follow instructions
  on the installation. In the update manager I took
  the defaults, ignoring what I noted in "4. Actual" in
  the original message.

  I fixed my error by complete removal of slapd followed
  by a new install. Since the number of clients on the
  server was less than one hundred, I decided to start
  over rather than try to fix the broken database.

  I'm sorry I can't be more specific since the incident
  occurred about a month ago.

  I reported the error because of the bug icon that appeared
  after the upgrade finished.
