The same disc and iso burns fine on my other dapper comp with a NEC DVD burner (ND-4570A).

do you get the same error if you try burning the dvd with another burning application?have you done something that could have compromised the burning section?have you made any change (new applications, new hardware)on your pc?

Yes, k3b (my main burning program) & nautilus integrated burning.
No, nothing.

But the problem appeared both in Dapper & FC5 with this Sony DVD RW burner. (and it have worked ever since I bought it a year ago except the last few weeks.)

The sucky part is that it's working fine in windows.

Checking the bug reports it seemes that there are others who are having the exact same problem.

Well, I wasn't sure since he can burn DVD-R successfully and I can't.

But yeah, we both get Input/output error.

yeah, its better to create one bug report and follow it, it's not good to have similar ones ,it can create confusion.

I can't burn in Gnomebaker either

this is seriously annoying me... it worked fine in Breezy and I'm trying to burn the dapper dvd for a friend who has only dialup...

I'm with Dapper.
Writting dvds was already hard with Breazy and I had the same problem in Dapper. I had to restart after I burned a dvd. I was never able to burn a second one without doing so.
