Depending on their symptoms, this is possibly a duplicate of bug 407648.

If it's the issue we talked about on #ubuntu+1 today then it should be dup of bug 408773

i can confirm that disabling apparmor fixed this:
  sudo /etc/init.d/apparmor stop

so this is probably a dupe of bug 408773
