Gnome panel crashes when trying to add a icon to the gnome panel bar

Bug Description

When trying to add a icon to the gnome panel bar, gnome-panel crashes.
Using version 2.14.1 of gnome, Ubuntu dapper

Steps to reproduce the crash:
1. Right click on the gnome panel bar
2. Choose add an app from gnome menu
3. The gnome panel crashes

How often does this happen?
Each time I try to add an icon to the gnome panel bar.

Additional Information:
I have got bad Gnome menus, not all text is displayed. I have got all
icons, but partial text.

What locale do you use? That bug happens only some people, that would be nice if somebody getting it could try to debug it. Do you know how to use valgrind and rebuild a package with some changes to work on it?

I have the same error: when I try to add a new item, gnome-panel crash and reload it.

I use:
LANG=es_CL.ISO-8859-1
LANGUAGE=es_CL:es
