Bug Description

Binary package hint: postfix

tasksel: aptitude failed (100)

I tried installing a mail server using the tasksel feature. I had previously installed the mail server in ubuntu version 8.04. Then I un-installed it because I was having trouble with my configurations. Then I upgraded to ubuntu 8.10 and tried the postfix/dovecot installation again from tasksel.

Prior to installing, I manually deleted some of the postfix directories under /etc and elsewhere in an effort to get a "clean" configuration. Apparently this is not something I should have done as I suspect those missing directories are part of the reason I couldn't get a clean install.

I'll try to clean up my installation. But I'm not sure why apt should fail if some directories are missing for an installation.

I was wondering if you were still having this problem.

Not having the error because I deleted all the related postfix files and then reinstalled without a problem.
