I confirm I get this on i386 architecture. I close kile down properly, and several minutes later I get the crash message. Should I report this as a separate bug, since it's not on amd64 architecture? Looks like the same problem, though.

A new beta 3 of kile has just been released. I've made a test build of it in my PPA for kile: https://launchpad.net/~andreas-wenning/+archive/ppa/
Does the crash still happen with that version?

@gloonie: There should be no need to report a new bug; as long as the stack-traces look similar.

I just tried the beta 3 from Andreas' ppa, and so far so good. I have opened and closed kile many times in different ways and it has not crashed. Will report any future bad behavior, but currently it's looking good. Thanks, Andreas

kile (1:2.1.0~svn1079982-0ubuntu1) lucid; urgency=low

  * New upstream svn snapshot including beta3.
    (LP: #409581, #432931, #429336, #267113, 476860, 427538)
  * debian/control: Recommend firefox instead of iceweasel to have it look like
    (konqueror | firefox); on default Ubuntu kile will then no longer install
    konqueror. (LP: #452079)
  * debian/rules: Use override_dh_compress to not compress index.docbook.
