Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-mouse

Since upgrading to Karmic, the left-handed setting for the mouse buttons no longer work.

It could be cause by e.g. gnome-settings-daemon also, but I have no way to verify this for sure.

Sorry, which version of what package fixed it?

Actually, it is not fixed at all. It keeps on randomly going back to right-handed setting during a session.

which would be a different issue than this one and not a gnome-settings-daemon one which just apply the config when the session is starting there

Sebastien, you still haven't answered the question I asked about which version of what package(s) allegedly fixed what. As such, marking the fix as released in not appropriate.

the current one in karmic is it that hard to look to the changelog on launchpad? could you stop playing with bug settings there that's of no use

Sebastien, your attitude is highly inappropriate. Either point to a specific Changelog entry that mentions the change or stop marking the bug as fixed.

The upload fixed a very specific issue with gnome-settings-daemon, where the left-handed settings were being applied to the core pointer and extension pointer, which caused the setting to be cancelled out. That issue is fixed now (the settings are not applied to the core pointer), so if there are outstanding issues with the settings reverting back to right-handed, then that is a new problem.

Actually, if you have a new issue, then this might not be a duplicate of bug 426675. Could you please post the output of "xinput list" both before and after the settings get inadvertently reverted back to right-handed?

Thanks

At least, it seems to work here, in Lucid.

Acutally it doesn't work in lucid.
Every now and then my system reverts to right handed.

When in a non-working state my xinput looks like this:
