Karmic release note:

Snapshots lost on a Jaunty UEC upgrade to Karmic

If a Jaunty UEC is upgraded to Karmic all existing snapshots may not be available after upgrade. A complete migration guide from Jaunty to Karmic should be made available at a later time. And will be linked from:
 * http://help.ubuntu.com/community/UEC

If you are concerned about this, please wait to upgrade your UEC from Jaunty to Karmic.

Could you provide some more information on what this bug is about, and how it might affect UEC users?

It has to do with migrating snapshots created with version 1.5 to 1.6. If you create a snapshot in 1.5 and upgrade to 1.6 (not clean install), your old snapshots may not be available (in multi component/multi cluster mode). There is a fix for the migration in the head, but part of the process requires running a database import script offline. I have left this open because we need to document the import path.

Doesn't seem to be enough information here yet to document this in the release notes, since we don't have the details on the workaround.

If a system running Ubuntu Enterprise Cloud on Ubuntu 9.04 is upgraded to Ubuntu 9.10, any existing snapshots will be unavailable after upgrade. Users affected by this issue may wish to defer their upgrade until a complete migration guide from Ubuntu 9.04 to Ubuntu 9.10 is made available at [[http://help.ubuntu.com/community/UEC]] at a later time.
