Ubuntu One: dragging files using Nautilus causes a move instead of copy

Bug Description

I would expect that dragging a file from my local file system to Ubuntu One (in Nautilus) would cause the file to be copied, but instead it gets moved.

It's not critical, but does not seem intuitive to me.

RdeWit,

The behavior you describe is the default for Nautilus. Right clicking on a file will bring up a menu with more options.

Hi Mark,

I think the default behaviour for Nautilus is to move if the target is the same drive/partition as the source and to copy otherwise. The question then is: should Ubuntu One be seen as a different drive or as the same drive, since it stores a local copy before synchronising?
That decision is not up to me and I can live with both options.

RdeWit: "Ubuntu One" is a normal folder in your same drive that happens to be supervised by ubuntuone-client. In the future this will be more explicit, when you could supervise any folder of your drives.

So, the actual behaviour of copying/moving is ok.

Changed in ubuntuone-client:

RdeWit, interesting, for what reason we could consider Ubuntu One a different drive?

Hi Vincenzo,

To me it seemed that 'Ubuntu One' was to be a remote folder that was (sort of) mounted locally. The way Facundo explained it, it is more like the shared folders in Windows. And, again: I can live with that! :-)

Thanks to all for the discussion/explanation anyway.
