Bug Description

I have set Automatic Login option so the computer starts with a given user (user a). If I logout, instead of showing me the gdm screen to log in with another user, it relogins with the "user a".

Same here. But personally I find this a feature instead of a bug since this is used to restrict your gnome sessions to one specific user.

Do you still have the issue? What version of Ubuntu and gdm do you use? That works fine for me with dapper. Could you activate the "Enable debug messages to system log" option with gdmsetup ("Security" tab) and copy the log from /var/log/syslog to a comment after login in out and being loged in again with the same user?

It works now without a problem. I don't know if there has been any dapper update on the package this last couple of days. I'm going to try without the debug setting to see if there is any difference, but I doubt it.

I will report back

I tried without the debuging option and it keeps working fine. I really don't know what happened before but it was not only me that could repeat it.

Anyway, unless the other person can repeat it you can close the bug.

I can't reproduce this bug anymore. So it seems gone with the current Dapper.

the new gdm is a rewrite, the code is totally different, it has a similar issue and there is a GNOME bug about it but the bug is different from the codebug fixed 3 years ago in this codebase
