Bug Description

There is a nautilus icon by default in the panel, that appears when there is a file operation in progress.
This icon does not fit the theme because it's colored.

This icon fixes nautilus to use a new icon named "system-file-progress-panel", so we are sure that this is icon is used only in this purpose and can be safely de-saturated without interfering with other applications

summary: - nautilus-progress-info panel icon
+ desaturate nautilus-progress-info panel icon

Sorry, I was enough stupid to not consider icon fallbacks, attaching a new better patch

The change will do nothing until we get a such icon then?

I think it's also going to look kind of bizarre, since the icon in the panel is the same one we use for the progress window.

It's also not doing the right thing wrt putting the icon in nautilus-icon-names.h as a define (but part of that's the existing code's fault).

It was just a quick patch, since I don't know much about nautilus.
Andrew I hope you can improve it!

I attached a new patch upstream following Andrew's comment: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/attachment.cgi?id=144185

To Sebastien: the patch won't do anything until the icon "nautilus-progress-info-panel" is added to the icon theme

I'm not sure we really want to be doing this.
As it would cause Bug 476170 , where the greyscale icon would now popup in the end and the order of monochrome and greyscale icons would become inconsistent/random.

But, on the other hand it might cause the icon to be more distinguished as a system process and not another app running in the background.

If you want to distinguish between system services and apps you need
to file a bug to gnome-panel/shell to have separate trays

There is no need for separate trays.
There is a fixed slots for system service in gnome-shell and , There already is a bug and patch upstream for gnome-panel > https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=583115
Maybe nautilus progress-info and the policky kit icons also should also get a slot.

Those interested in this bug could bring this up in the upstream gnome-panel bug..

@Nicolo , could you update your patch to use the icon name as "system-file-manager-symbolic" , for the new naming system > http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/SymbolicIcons

it should not be required in lucid, the indicator should do the naming translation
