Bug Description

The "print" icon is a bit liitle than the others. The "stop" icon (a hand into a red circle) is little and don't represents the real meanning of the button. The "delete" icon (red circle with slash) don't represents the real meaning. It should be a trash icon.

Wrong icons in Evolution message filters

Icons in the filter configuration have issues too. The icons for top and bottom are wrong: the top icon is for bottom, the bottom icon is from another theme.

I think dialog-close (http://daniel.holba.ch/ubuntu/ic/#dialog-close) would be a better metaphor for edit-delete

I don't know what is wrong with a red cross, like the close cross, but it must have another shape otherwise the color is the only difference (and that would be bad for colorblind people).

The red circle with the red line through it is a bad choice. As most people know this sign from the use on trafficsigns, where it usually means "prohibited" it tells us something we are not allowed to do there. Therefor I think it is a bad metafor for a delete action.

A trash can could be used, but I don't think that is the best way to do it, since it might confuce people with going to the wastebasket.

Another option, which isn't just a cross (which also doesn't tell much about the real action) is the use of icons already established. You probably know the icon with a simple human figure throwing something away in a wastebasket (as seen on many plastic drink bottles). I know the size of the icon is a bit limited, but I am convinced some real good artwork creator (of which the opensource community has a lot, I think) might get the job done.

This is the sign I mean by "simple human figure throwing something away in a wastebasket icon".

I am not sure if this image is copyrighted so please don't use it.
I found it using Google Image search and cropped a piece out of it with The GIMP.

I moved to Edgy and the Cancel icon on dialongs is a cross (old gnome icons?) with bad resolution(pixelized).

The icon for delete in Evolution makes sense now (a paper shredder), but Cancel is incoherent with the dialogs. Should I reassign this bug on human-icon-theme and close it here?

I close the bug now. The bug started off mentioning three problems and starts to involve another icon now. Please open new bugs for all the specific problems you see. Thanks.
