Bug Description
dbus starts hal at S12, and apmd insmods apm at S20. Because of
this, on APM laptops, hal never sees important information like smbios.
Or the fact that there's power management.
This is reproducable on an IBM ThinkPad A20m, which was produced
before the ACPI cutoff year of 2000. By default, the kernel will only
boot this in APM mode.
I suggest moving apmd all the way up to S12 in the boot sequence,
which solves the problem handily for me.

I have reinstalled dapper, this is no longer a problem.
