Bug Description

Binary package hint: gwibber

Once Gwibber has been started using the Indicator Applet, gwibber iconifies as the Indicator Applet when you click the X, click Gwibber > Quit, or click the Quit button at the top of the Gwibber window. Gwibber-daemon stays alive and I keep getting notification bubbles about Tweets and Dents, even though I don't want to. There should be a way to close the gwibber-daemon if I don't want to keep getting notifications.

In Empathy, clicking Chat > Quit closes the program, and I will no longer get instant messages. Gwibber should act the same when clicking Gwibber > Quit, and probably when clicking the Quit button in the Gwibber window. Right now, the only way to stop seeing Gwibber notifications is to kill the gwibber-daemon process. Running up to date Karmic.

Having the same issue here, it's a bit of annoying since if you close the application it's because you don't want to receive those messages , but the only way to workaround that is killing the daemon (probably not the best), i don't care too much if the daemon is still running if i close the app, just don't want to receive those messages if I've closed gwibber.

Imagine you are playing a game and bubbles keep coming, making you lose. :-( not good, there should be an option to iconify on window close, AND an option to really QUIT

I'd like to add that it is also expected that there should be a notification area icon after closing the window. Especially when a daemon is running in the background, and it is popping up bubbles. These kind of applications should all behave the same way, in order not to confuse the users. Assign it to the new papercuts?

By this, I meant that the "Minimize to tray on close" behavior should be the default.

This bug is fixed in the development release of gwibber (2.29.xx) as now if you close gwibber there is a service name 'gwibber services' keeps running but when you quit gwibber that service also exits.
