These steps are already performed by the configuration step when installing the driver. (If this was broken, we'd be seeing a LOT more bug reports and would be easy to reproduce; I've not seen this on my own hardware with fglrx).

Without knowing the background to your issue I can only guess what's going on. Sounds like you interrupted installation midway through, before it finished doing the configuration step. Probably if you were to do a full reinstall of the package it'd work properly.

If I'm wrong, feel free to reopen the bug but please provide a more detailed description.

Hello Bryce,

Nice to see your fast response.

I upgraded from 9.04 yesterday. And found X is unsuable, The log said It is a problem with fglrx because I havent got such files. I found the files is unpacked, but the name of files is not that what the closed source videodriver, fglrx is expecting. Then I copied files, and things got better.

I haven't interrupted the installation, also I tried to reconfigure the releted packages after this problem without succes.

What do you think what is the preferred way to backtrack the problem? I am open to remove/purge the fglrx packages then install them again, and collect the output of dpkg process if you want.
