Bug Description

While testing my Dapper Distribuition i came up with pecuiliar behavior on the wastebasket. It is not possible to delete links to other files in the wastbasket. These links were broken. All this process was made using nautilus, and it was not possible to delete them. The only way to delete them was trough the terminal, and using the apropriate command!

Thank You.

The previous bug report was not that detailed on how to reproduce it, sorry! Because i am able to reproduce the bug i will now explain how it happens.

Create a plain text file on the desktop;
Call im "test.txt" (without quotes);
Write whatever you like on it;
Right click on desktop;
Choose "Make Link";
It will create a link named "link\ to\ test.txt" (name of the file in the console);
Move the file "test.txt" to the wastebasket;
Empty the wastbasket;
Now move the link to the wastebasket;
Empty the wastebasket;
The file will remain on the wastebasbet, the only way to delete it is from the console.

I hope this info will help you debuging the issue.

Thank you for your time!

I'm not able to reproduce this using dapper 20060520.
Does this also happen when you trash the link first or is it important you move the file test.txt to the trash first?
What are the file permissions of the file test.txt and the link? Look in a terminal with the command ls -l.
What appropriate command did you use on terminal to delete the link, sudo rm filename or just rm filename?

I'm using dapper 2.6.15-23-386
This only happens when the link is broken. Meaning you must trash first the file test.txt.

Permissions:
lrwxrwxrwx link to teste.txt
-rw------- teste.txt

On terminal i just use rm to delete the file!

Thanks for the provided info.
I hereby confirm this bug since I'm able to reproduce it now. It is possible to "Empty Trash", but "Delete from Trash" doesn't work, see description below.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Create a plain text file on the desktop, call it e.g. "test.txt" (without quotes). Write whatever you like in it.
2. Right click on the desktop, choose "Make Link". It will create a link named "link to test.txt".
3. Move the file "test.txt" to the Trash and empty the Trash.
4. Now move the broken link "link to test.txt" to the Trash. Open the Trash, right click the link and select "Delete from Trash". The file will remain in the Trash. Deleting this broken link is only possible with File > Empty Trash or choosing Empty Trash after right clicking on the Trash icon.
