Bug Description

Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.15

(Bug report based on Ubuntu Dapper flight 7.)

The mouse driver in the default kernel package intercepts input events from Wacom tablets, thus blocking any specific tablet functionality and reducing tablets to mouse functionality. This is a known problem, see the following page:

http://linuxwacom.sourceforge.net/index.php/howto/mouse1

According to that page, two solutions are possible. The inferior solution is to specify the the concrete "/dev/input/mouseX" device instead of using "/dev/input/mice"; this may however be impossible to predict in all cases. (I will file a separate bug against Ubuntu X with a pointer to this bug and to the inferior solution suggested.)

The superior solution is to use the mousedev.o supplied by the Wacom project rather than the one that ships with a standard Linux kernel. Please do so.
