Bug Description

Binary package hint: unixodbc

(* running the 9.10 beta amd64 *)
I selected Sun JDK 6 to install through the Software Center and left the machine working. After some 20 minutes came back. The installation asked me to agree to the license agreement of Sun JRE. I checked off "agree" and pressed the Forward button.
The logging screen appeared, but the PC didn't react to the mouse and keyboard any more. All I could do to revive it was to cold reset.

This morning, I encountered the exact same error and consequences as posted above while trying to install the Sun Java runtime and plugin. I'm using the 9.10 beta, i386 version. I just noticed that I accidentally have Firefox 3.0 installed as well as 3.5. I'm not sure if that could have affected it. The unfortunate thing was that I had about 20 programs queued up for installation in the Software Center and now they are all gone. It would be nice if this program had remembered the list in event of crashes, and just continued installing when you started it up next time.

Hello Chuck,

Well, I just ran the install again and it worked. Before that I had to
clean up with dpkg -f though.

This doesn't sound like openjdk, assigning to sun-java6.

Yeah, the "bug" doesn't really match the description. In my explanation
I mentioned I wanted to install Sun's JDK. I am guessing the problem was
"miscommunication" between the software center and the screen saver.
