Bug Description

I expected KMix to have a button for enabling Analog Loopback so that I could hear what I was recording.

However, I was unable to find any such setting.

Must be supported by the driver I suppose, on some devices I see such functions, on some I dont.

The 'Analog loopback' switch exists (and works) in alsamixer on my Dell XPS m1330 when I boot on Linux Mint 7 (based on Jaunty). But not on Karmic or Lucid. Why is that?

Félix, the driver source code was changed not to expose those controls
by default (but they can be toggled via sysfs).

I searched in /sys/module/snd_hda_intel/parameters/ but did not find anything.
How do you enable that control?
TIA for your help!

Well? Could you provide help how to activate this feature again? It is kind of essential. I have a production system here for audio mixing and I hope I did not do a mistake upgrading to lucid.

Guys, the button can be put back on using these in the console, before KDE
has started running.

echo "loopback=yes" >> /sys/class/sound/hwC0D0/hints
echo 1 >> /sys/class/sound/hwC0D0/reconfig

When your computer starts up, you can do a console login instead of logging
in to KDE, open a sudo bash, and write these commands. After that, type exit
until you are at the console login, give it a minute, it will take you back
to the KDE login screen. Login and check KMix, the button should be there
now.
