Bug Description

Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.15

Sound has worked perfectly with previous kernel 2.6.15-22 on this laptop, but with this new kernel there isn't any kind of sound at all, no speakers, no headphones.

I am using dapper drake flight 7 + updates.

I can confirm this. After the upgrade to the -23 kernel sound is gone. I have spoken with Daniel Chen (crimsun) about this issue and he is looking into it

I have the same problem on Lenovo 3000 N100 with Dapper RC1 and 2.6.15-23 precompiled kernel for 686.

I try building ALSA drivers 1.0.11 but i get nothing.

I too had the problem with 2.6.20 kernel which was there during installation in my laptop. Then I updated the kernel to 2.6.23 and still the sound (both speakers and headphones) is not working. I hope the bug gets fixed quickly so we can enjoy the best of ubuntu in our laptops :)

Many of us have Lenovo laptops and not being able to play sound is very discouraging.

Am I again!

Loading the snd-hda-intel module with model=laptop-eapd option fixes de problem. Try adding the following line to /etc/modprobe.d/options file:

options snd-hda-intel model=laptop-eapd

After restart it works, at least for me.

I can confirm the fix from metalpain. Following the above steps in his post and rebooting gets me sound on a Lenovo 3000 N100. Thanks!
