Bug Description

Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.15-23-k7

Since upgrading to this kernel image, ethernet connection works initially but eventually freezes. No problems if I boot up in 2.6.15-22-k7.

AMD 64 x2 on AOpen EZ482. Ethernet chipset: Marvel.

I have the same problem with marvell on asus AV8ESE mainboard. With -k8 AND -i386 kernel package :(

This problem does not exists in 2.6.15-22-* !!!

Just after boot, network is ok for 3 or 4 minutes, then nothing :( rmmod sky2 && modprobe sky2 then network is okay for 2 or 3 minutes then goto rmmod && modprobe !

Could i send more informations ? dmesg / kernel log ?

Eric

Seems to have been fixed with yesterday's kernel update.

Perhaps I spoke too soon. But it seems to be an odd problem. For
example, I can ping google.com or my.yahoo.com and reach anything on my
local network but pop mail and web browsing are dead. There's no such
problem with linux-image-2.6.15-22-k7.

I can confirm this bug with fresh install of ubuntu 6.06 on Asus P5LD2 motherboard which has Marvell Yukon NIC. Network connection sometimes just freezes. It is rather strange freeze, because I can ping all addresses, but I can't get HTTP response from them. I haven't tried a new kernel. Anyway, I just want to confirm this problem.

Well, kernel image 2.6.15-22-k7 appears to have the same problem albeit, much less frequent (at least in my experience). So the problem must be the sky2 module. I have disabled it at instead installed sk98lin. So far so good.
