Bug Description
I know you can't support Proprietry software but this used to work prior to 'Gutenprint'.
Within the gimps print dialog I can change paper type and size, the source of the paper etc. All these are ignored when I press print. Setting used in 'Gnome-
Printing from OpenOffice using Turboprint allows me to change paper type and source so I know Turboprint is working with Cups.
My Dapper system is completely up to date.

This happens for me as well. This is particularly annoying as gimp printing both FC5 and Mandriva distros "just work" and the standard gimp Canon drivers only print (not as well as turboprint) up to 600 dpi when the printer will do 4800 dpi! They also get the image alignment wrong (at least for 6x4).
Earlier in the release cycle we were having similar problems with gnome-print not honouring the settings (like bottom-tray, duplex print) from the print dialog. These AFAIK are now fixed. However, the only option with gimp -> turboprint (any?) cups ppd / postscript driver appears to be A4 top tray 300 dpi. Regardless of any settings one specifies elsewhere in the dialog.
And, before anybody says "It's a turboprint problem", here is a work around that proves that it isn't. I happen to have the kde stuff in my machine and I prefer that dialog to the the gnome one anyway.
1. go into the print dialog, click "new printer" and give it a name (I chose kprint). turboprint
2. select adobe, postscript level 2 (the defaults).
3. browse for the ppd file in /etc/cups/ppd or /usr/share/
4. select "custom command" and enter "kprinter -d Canon" (in my case)
5. click OK
All the papersizes, resolutions and tray options now appear as before.
Save & Print your picture.
The kprint dialog comes up and you now select the tray, print resolution, paper type and size you require (save it) and then press "print". It will now use the correct parameters.
This shows that both cups and turboprint are working and it is the gimp interface to cups that is not.
