Bug Description
Binary package hint: gs
When I upgraded from 5.10 to Dapper 6.06, something odd started happening with PS/PDF file visualizations. The PS in question is generated with dvips, which gets a DVI generated from latex. The PDF is generated from the PS using ps2pdf. The used font is the standard latex font, with a size of 12pt.
When I open the PS/PDF using any of the following applications: gv, ggv, evince, acroread; the text font is strangely distorted, like if it is strechted horizontally. Oddly, the paper size seems to change too, getting wider horizontally, which probably is related to the font distortion. When I change the paper orientation from portrait to landscape, the paper turns 90 degrees, as expected, but the paper dimensions get back to normal and so does the text font!
This phenomenon is not related to the generation of the PS, since I also tested with PS files that I *know* are good, since I opened them in other systems. And interestingly, the problem does not manifest itself with xpdf (the only app. according to my investigations).
I even tried to open an external PS file (introlatex.ps, famous latex introduction tutorial) using evince and the problem is still there. The fonts are "fat".
Tried installing all kinds of fonts and GS extensions I found in Synaptic but it didn't wok. Like I said, started happening after the upgrade from 5.10 do Dapper 6.06 via the update-manager
Do you confirm this bug? Any idea on how to solve it?
