Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubuntuone-client

I have 2 machines that I am trying to keep in sync with u1, all of them are currently running Karmic, client are all in version 1.0.2-0ubuntu2.

As far as I can see:
 * my computer named "nijaone" is fully in sync with the files I see on the web
 * my computer name "nijalap" is not in sync, but says it is

For nijalap, I have tried to to follow instructions at https://answers.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntuone-client/+faq/778 with no change in behaviour.

Currently nijalap seems only to hve synced files that are in the "share with me" folder, but nothing else. Putting a file in the Ubuntu One folder on this machine does not allow it to appear on the web interface. It all seem to work fine from nijaone.

Hi Nick,

Could you attach ~/.cache/ubuntuone/log/syncdaemon-exceptions.log?

also, is "nijalap" using networkmanager?

Thanks

Nick,

If you can, please also upload ~/.cache/ubuntuone/log/syncdaemonlog
This file might contain the your files names, so if you don't want to make that info public, let me know and we can change the bug to private.

Thanks.

Hi! Nick!

In the logs I see...

2009-11-03 10:48:07,223 - ubuntuone.SyncDaemon.Main - NOTE - ---- MARK (state: START_WORKING_ON_METADATA_WITH_CONTQ; queues: metadata: 57; content: 4; hash: 0, fsm-cache: hit=586 miss=51) ----

This means that it didn't finish uploading/downloading everything, so it's not in synch. However, I can not see there why it's not doing anything... did you see bandwith usage at that time?

On the other hand, in the exceptions log I see strange errors, specially the last one that implies that something bad happened to inotify in your system at that moment.

In any case, we would need DEBUG logs from your "nijalap" machine to find the issue here.

You should do the following:

1. stop the syncdaemon client and be sure it's fully stopped ("ps -eaf | grep ubuntuone-client" should give you nothing).

2. put a file named syncdaemon.conf in your $HOME/.config/ubuntuone directory with the following information:

    [__main__]
    log_level = DEBUG

3. restart the client.

4. attach here the logs, just zip you $HOME/.cache/ubuntuone/log/ folder and attach the zip here.

Thanks for your time and help!

Nick, the last line in the log is:

2009-11-05 11:48:37,942 - ubuntuone.SyncDaemon.Main - NOTE - ---- MARK (state: START_WORKING_ON_METADATA_WITH_CONTQ; queues: metadata: 55; content: 4; hash: 0, fsm-cache: hit=436 miss=51) ----

That means it still working...

Please, let the deamon finish and attach the logs again. To check if it finished, you need to have at least two MARK lines at the end of the log with the state IDLE.

Thanks!

Well, maybe that's where the problem is, because it has been running for hours now, and it is still not reporting idle.

Finally is working for me. I could open the Ubuntu One folder, but I didn't see the files I uploaded this morning with my other computer. I uploaded another file through the web interface, and I didn't see it either. The 'connect' button in the folder apparently did not work.

I've just tried again, disconnecting and connecting through the cloud icon, and now I can see all the files.

Nick, did you finally wait for it to finish? We've been having some issues with the servers, and as a result the transactions were a little slow.

But as you say, it's working, so I'll close this as invalid, but please open a new bug if you find any problem.

Remember that if you have any doubt it may be quicker to contact us in the #ubuntuone IRC channel, on Freenode. You can ping me directly, my nick is facundobatista.

I keep the ubuntuone running for almost 2 days. Still files get not uploaded:
2009-12-02 17:33:08,060 - ubuntuone.SyncDaemon.Main - NOTE - ---- MARK (state: START_WORKING_ON_METADATA_WITH_CONTQ; queues: metadata: 51; content: 265; hash: 0, fsm-cache: hit=24091 miss=395) ----

Reimplementing the wheel (rsync?) doesn't seem to be paying off.

Well, currently nothing new has been happening on the computer where the sync is not happening. it still does not sync even though it says it is connected. Quite disappointed by it to tell you the truth. I which there was a way to tell Ubuntu One to start sync from scratch on this computer...

I am having the same issue. All of the files on my main computer are up-to-date with the server, however my laptop will not sync. The cloud icon on my laptop says that all files are up-to-date, but they are not.
