Bug Description

Binary package hint: totem

I have totem crash when I open it. I can open Mplayer but it crash as well when I run a video. I have the same problem with Realplayer. I'm trying with an avi file and sony DV codec. I installed the win32 codecs. And others codecs with EasyUbuntu.

This problem seems similar to Bug #37087:
(Opening a file causes totem to crash). But no solution was explained there. May I get some help?

Thanks for your bug. A bug tracker is to report issues. If you want some sort of user help you should better use a forum, user list or the support tracker from launchpad: https://launchpad.net/support

According to your description the issue is not specific to totem, so that's not a totem bug. What videocard do you use? Do you have an error printed when running totem or mplayer?

Thanks for your answer.
My videocard is Intel(R) 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics
Controller. And this is what printed in Totem, and in
Mplayer. Is it not a bug in Totem or a codec problem?
Thank you.

The program 'totem' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadAlloc (insufficient resources for
operation)'.

reported asynchronously;
   that is, you will receive the error a while after
causing it.
   To debug your program, run it with the --sync
command line
   option to change this behavior. You can then get a
meaningful
   backtrace from your debugger if you break on the
gdk_x_error() function.)

that seems to be a videodriver issue. Is that specific to that video or happening when you try to play any video?
