Bug Description

Binary package hint: nautilus

When I attempt to open a *.planner file with a double-click, nautilus
sees that it is an XML file. It refuses to open it with a double-click,
and you must use the open with submenu to open it. It shouldn't compain
that it is an XML file... since planner uses XML files.

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Open up planner, add some stuff, and save it as a .planner file
2. Double-click on the .planner file in nautilus

Actual Results:

Nautilus will complain about the contents and refuse to open it without
using the submenu

Expected Results:

Nautilus should just open the file without complaints... the .planner
extension should be enough.

How often does this happen?

Every time.

The error message is also pretty wordy... that shoud probably also be reduced.

Thanks for your bug. What version of Ubuntu do you use? A similar issue has been fixed to dapper

Seb : This bug is still present, unfortunatly, in Dapper.

(I must admit that I dist-upgraded my Dapper two days ago, so if there is a fix, it's a fresh one)

That's a planner issue, the previous upload with the patch got rejected, I'll reupload a fixed version, marking as duplicate of #41772

Lionel, there is some bug upstream about what do when nautilus refuses to open something due to a broken mimetype but that doesn't mean we should not fix wrong descriptions like that one, usually bugs are due to shared-mime-info (or the app if that's the app itself which ships the mimetype description like that's the case for that one)
