Bug Description

On the Desktop CD, for some reason, 'thinkpad-keys' is not being loaded. However it appears that '/etc/init.d/hotkey-setup' has been executed because:

  $ ls -l /var/run/hotkey-setup
  -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1706 2006-05-31 16:34 /var/run/hotkey-setup

unfortunately, I forget to test for the existance of:

  /var/run/hotkey-setup.thinkpad-keys

before starting do:

  sudo /etc/init.d/hotkey-setup restart

which makes the volume keys work.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.
