Bug Description

Hi!

I have a install-CD form dapper (1June). If you start the live-cd and your Monitor is a Eizo S1910 the screen resolution will be 640*480. And if you want to install dapper the window (with language-selector) its to big. You cannot select the button on the bottom (its out of the screen) to start the installation.

I have more S1910 Eizo Monitors on different Pc-Hardware. All with the same Problem.

I must install breezy (works without any resolution-problem), and then make update to dapper directly from breezy and then repair this error in the xorg-file with this code:

Section "Device"
Identifier "ATI Technologies, Inc. Radeon X800 Pro (R420 JI)"
Driver "radeon" ---------(no ati!)
Option "DDCMode ----------(in addition to the original xorg.conf file).
BusID "PCI:1:0:0"
EndSection

Please fix this bug, or no user with S1910 Monitor can install dapper (and i think not only this monitor have this problem)

one more thing.....

Driver option dont have to be "radeon", it works with "ati" too.

I've seen the Problem already exists. I have reinstalled Dapper on a PC with Eizo S1910. The Probleme is here and is BIG! I have to install Breezy before and then upgrade to dapper. Then in xorg i have to add this line under DEVICE (Option "DDCMode".

I think you have to do something, because no S1910 User will use Dapper. In forums i've heard from few Persons with the same Problem. Do something, or you will surely loose a lot of posible Dapperuser!

With Xubuntu (probably the other 2 as well, but I've not tested) this is also a problem at 800x600 resultion.

As above, the install window also goes just below the bottom of the screen so that the buttons at the bottom are not reachable. However, at this resolution installation is possible, by setting the panels at the top and bottom of the screen to autohide and moving the install window up to the top of the screen, then the buttons are just reachable. But this is still a serious bug, as it will prevent beginner users from installing.

I would like to know if this problem still persisted with Edgy (6.10) and Feisty (7.04) as since Dapper is an LTS, and if it still persists in Dapper, it maybe possible to backport a fix.

Closing as out of date. If the issue still occurs on Feisty, please reopen a new bug.
