Bug Description

After a clean install from the kubuntu CD (checked both MD5 sums of iso and disc integrity) upon reboot the process gets as far as the login screen. After entering my name and password I am greeted with a black screen with the mouse. After a second reboot logging in results in a crash to command line.

I was using kubuntu as my normal Dapper installation was having problems (random nautilus/gnome-panel crashes followed by every other gnome app not wanting to work). I am unsure if this is related.

I am reasonably sure my hardware is sound, windows seems to get along with it fine.

Sorry if this report is lacking in detail but bug buddy dies with everything else.

This may be related to kde or to Xorg, let's guess that it is KDE since the reporter gets the login screen.

My sincere apologies, I traced the problem to a faulty memory module, everything is fine now, please close this "bug".
