Bug Description

1.18. Preventing the Ctrl-Alt-Backspace shortcut keys from restarting X

"The change will take effect the next time you log in to GNOME. If you want the change to take effect immediately, restart GNOME manually."

This is wrong. gdm doesn't restart the xserver after logout anymore. This is one of the rare use cases for Crtl+Alt+Backspace.

alternatively: "sudo /etc/init.d/gdm restart" or restart the computer :)

The error about restarting gnome, that I already reported, is duplicated here.

In the first case you use the term GNOME and here X. Why not use "graphical environment" instead?

How should I deal with this bug and other confirmed ones in the translation? Should I correct them?

No, this isn't fixed. However, again we will probably be dropping this section in favour of Gnome material. We'll reevalutate this bug later in the release cycle.

What happened with this, Matthew? I can't find anything about this in the current documentation (Ubuntu 7.04, without Beagle, searching for "restart x" and "Ctrl-Alt-Backspace")
