partitioning during graphical install ignores settings

Bug Description

Binary package hint: gparted

During the installation of Dapper I created 2 new partitions of which one should have been formated as XFS and the other as ext2. The partitioning tool simply ignored the settings and formated both partitions in ext3 in the next step. Also it intriduced small gaps between the partitions making the new partitions unusable. My workarround was the use of the server-install cd of dapper. Here the partitioning process worked fine.

Could you please attach /var/log/installer/syslog, /var/log/syslog, and /var/log/partman to this bug, using the "Add Attachment" link on the bug's web page? Thanks in advance.

Also, did you install the first time using the LiveCD (Desktop CD) or the Alternate Install CD?

Yes John is right...I meant the Desktop CD and was not using the alternate install option. As for attaching the syslog file...in the meantime I've installed Dapper using the server CD (I could have used the alternate option but somehow didn't find the option to that time :( ) so I haven't got the syslog of the original system anymore :( sorry!

I'm afraid I have to close this bug report now, since the log files are unavailable and there is no way to proceed further.
You can however, try and recreate the issue. If you do, please attach the logs and reopen this bug.
Thank you for replying so soon.

Ok I understand. It's also probably not so much of an issue because people who want to use different file system on their machine are probably using the alternate install option anyway. Thanks for trying anyway.
