Changing launchpad.net nickname causes silent synchronization failure

Bug Description

When changing the nickname on launchpad.net, the openid login url changes. Any prior connection to ubuntu-one is not expected to work anymore. However, the daemon does not realize this, and will happily report a connected state.

Workaround for Tomboy notes: Go to preferences->third tab, click „clear“, ignore warning and reenter server address etc.

I tried to get file synchronization to work again by following the instructions found here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntuone-client/+bug/362432 Unfortunately, changes to local files are not uploaded to Ubuntu One. Worse, the locally changed files are overwritten with the old versions from the server. See appended log file.

Synchronization is working again. No problems on that part.

I don't know about the original problem: how ubuntu one client handles nickname changes on launchpad.net.

Matt, can you test whether this problem still occurs when renaming a Launchpad nick?

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu One better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu One since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test it on the most recent version of Ubuntu. When you test it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running apport-collect 491278 and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.
