Bug Description

See this screenshot:

The 'ö' is rendered a lot narrower than the 'o', and this happens with several fonts, including Microsoft fonts like Arial, which leads me to believe that this is not a font bug.
This is happening on a current Dapper installation.

Thanks for your bug. I don't have that issue on my box. The screenshot doesn't make it really clear neither, your ö look like they have one 1 ".". What settings are you using for fonts (antialiasing, etc) and for fontconfig?

See http://www.deckmaker.mynetcologne.de/Bildschirmfoto.png for a better look at the narrower 'ö'. I'm using the "best form" antialiasing from the Gnome font settings window, and I have not changed any fontconfig settings.
