Bug Description

Binary package hint: upstart

/var/log/messages 250Mb+ and growing
cpu temperature/speed are being repeatedly reported as normal on both cores.

The system has been running 4 days and the number of times the temperature/speed is reported has doubled or quadrupled since the system was booted.

Went looking for a sound related issue and couldn't find a needle due to the haystack.

shmengie, thank you for reporting this issue. I have talked to some people about your issue. Your log message is from when the CPU is returning to normal speed after having been slowed down due to self-protection from overheating. Because of the amount of messages that are occuring, we are wondering if something is wrong with your hardware. There are a number of possibilities, but I would first double-check that all of your fans are working and that your computer has proper air flow.

I have an Acer Laptop w/dual core Intel cpu. Forced it to 1ghz as the
peak speed, because it will overheat if a process gets too carried away
and I'm not minding it. Sometimes it happens because I leave a flash
player running in Firefox.

I thought I had done nothing to affect the temp/speed.. Forgot that I
had throttled it down, but I need to slow the messages being generated.

Other users may experience this same issue and have their filesystem
filled w/out warning.
