Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-driver-s3

when google earth 4 is installed and i open it, the globe isnt shown, no graphics work. my graphics card is: VIA S3 Unichrome

also i forgot to say all the toolbars show up, just non of the graphical stuff liek the maps

I also see only stars, and they draw trails on the screen when I move the mouse.

This is on a Dell Latitude X1, Intel i915GMS.

Have you installed 3d drivers for your video cards? Also does any of you other GUI apps have a problem?

This seems to be a bug with google earth not ubuntu please file the bug with google earth.

The problem is in the via x11 driver, not Google Earth. This is why no complex 3D application works on the VIA Unichrome. Have also tried Beryl on it and got an error related to the driver of not supporting dual extensions.

The bug report should be reopened. Check UbuntuForums if you don't thrust me.

This might help: sometimes it helps to first maximaze, and then restore the application again (using the 2 buttons on your window in the upper right corner)

Launch the program from the terminal as root with the command "googleearth". Works for me.

Could be because I installed as root.
