Do both icons work as a volume control?

I have seen this once in 9.10, however I don't really remember what happened to make it happen. I think I may have just rebooted and it went away.

I'm not saying it is.. I'm just saying that I only saw it once, and when I rebooted it went away.. Since you are having the issue in lucid, it may not be a one time only thing and may need some TLC. :-)

You are correct, Lucid - which is at an *early* alpha/beta stage - is not bugless and never will be. All large software projects have bugs including software that costs millions of dollars.

That is why bug trackers exist to help report bugs so that they can be fixed.
