Removing MP3 player causes USB and shutdown failiures

Bug Description
When I remove my MP3 player it causes my USB keyboard to fail (i.e. keys ignored) and causes my USB wifi to stop working aswell. Oddly my keyboard is wireless attached using a USB reciever, this reciever is also used by my mouse but the mouse continues to function.
Also after removing my MP3 player, during the next system shutdown, instead of displaying the graphical shutdown screen listing what it is doing the screen goes blank and the system fails to shutdown.
My PC's power button performs a normal shutdown if pushed, t only forces a power off if its held down. After the screen goes blank if I push the button and wiat it appears to perform a shutdown procedure, although the screen goes blank the hard drive light flickers intermittantly and the system then powers off.
My MP3 player is a Samsung YP-U1 ( http://
Steps to reproduce:
1. Insert MP3 player, wait for gnome to recognize it and load it.
(should see the MP3 player).
2. Right click the icon and choose unmount.
Everything should be working at this point.
3. Now remove the device.
My keyboard fails at this point and my USB wifi adapter also fails.
The only other USB device I have connected is the printer, which I haven't tested, and the mouse, which spookily still works despite using the same reciever the keyboard does.
If you need me to provide any more info tell me what commands I need to run. Note that as my keyboard stops working I can't actually type anything so the command is going to need to be run ahead of time (i.e. prior to removing)
I have tried using Ctrl-Alt-Backspace to make X restart, nothing happens (no restart, nothing to indicate the command was even recieved).
Ctrl-Alt-F1 to switch to a console also does nothing.
Any help much appreciated, rebooting my machine everytime I use my MP3 player is time consuming.
Incase it matters it worked fine in Breezy, but then it wasn't recognized as an MP3 player it was treated as an USB disk, like a memory stick.

I meant to write Breezy in the last line, but my fingers had another idea. I tried to edit the description but it somehow has it posted twice now.
For clarity thelast paragraph is meant to read:

Any idea how to make the excess comment go away? (I'm not used to malone, haven't posted many bugs but this one was seriously reducing my enjoymen of Ubuntu so I thought I had better inform someone who might know what to do about it, I don't know anywhere near enough to fix it myself, unfortunatly)
