Bug Description

Binary package hint: evolution

Evolution downloaded again the same emails from two different accounts as if they were new mail. The (uncompiled) plugin supposed to get rid of duplicates is said to be not working by forum users (and I can't compile it in any case).

Thank you for your bug report. The issue is an upstream one and it would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug the to the people writting the software (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME)

I'm sorry, I don't know what "sending a bug upstream" means... I know though that this issue is already mentioned in evolution's FAQs...

There are plenty of reasons to get duplicate messages in any mail client, so please add the feature to get and remove duplicate messages.
The existing plugin "evolution-remove-duplicates"(http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=384338) is not compatible with Ubuntu Maverick.
A model could be the "Remove Duplicate Messages" Thunderbird plugin (https://addons.mozilla.org/fr/thunderbird/addon/956/)
Evolution is powerful and misses this basic feature.
Please add this feature.
Thanks.

I have upgraded evolution to maverick and now to precise and I haven't had evolution itself produce duplicate emails anymore.

As for the feature request/wishlist to remove duplicate emails, I'd suggest someone who cares for it to open a new report upstream and possibly a new report here to reference it.

Would any of the other subscribers object to this report being marked as "Fixed Released"?
