Bug Description

Binary package hint: kde-l10n-de

When installing the updated to kde-l10n-de, the following error message is displayed and the updates can not be installed

E: /var/cache/apt/archives/kde-l10n-de_4%3a4.3.3-0ubuntu1~+karmic1_all.deb: trying to overwrite '/usr/share/locale/de/LC_MESSAGES/kimagemapeditor.mo', which is also in package kde-i18n-de 4

For me as end-user the provided articulations make no sense whatsoever. I don't understand the application-area, nor the problem in plain language.

I would appreciate very much to receive a message or explanation which makes me understand the main issues at stake.

I don't really know what else to report or describe. I installed some
updates today, and got this error message. I'm on Ubuntu 9.10, AMD64.

Hi there,

I removed the package kde-i18n-de (universe), which is from KDE3.
Then the package kde-l10n-de (main) from KDE4 can be installed.

Hi Ian & other people involved in this bug-appearance &/or its solution:

Just like Ian I am using Ubuntu 9.10 on an AMD64-driven PC; may that
narrows the number of diagnoses and/or solutions.
